Lower instead of mute
Choose a remaining input level from 1 to 100%. RoomMute restores its own reduction after the other speaker finishes.
Gaming together in the same room? RoomMute temporarily lowers your microphone input when your partner speaks. Adjustable ducking keeps your voice chat under control — with a key to speak anyway.

LAN status only — your audio stays on your PC
Choose your microphones and exchange IP addresses once. RoomMute then coordinates turns locally while your voice app keeps handling the conversation.
Choose a remaining input level from 1 to 100%. RoomMute restores its own reduction after the other speaker finishes.
Hold F8 to restore your input immediately. Release to resume coordination. Record a key, Mouse3 (middle mouse button) or a combination such as Ctrl + 5; manual mute stays enabled.
Optional Windows startup and tray mode. Saved connections start automatically and retry if the microphone or partner is not ready yet.
The first speaker keeps priority. Configurable priorities resolve nearly simultaneous starts.
Windows microphone volume, input meter, speech and silence thresholds, attack, release, ducking and IP addresses — with explanations and a German/English switch.
Only coordination status travels over your LAN. RoomMute does not record, transcribe or transmit your audio.
RoomMute restores its own input reduction. A manual mute is preserved, and an external volume choice is respected. Disconnecting the partner releases RoomMute’s reduction.
Windows 10/11, 64-bit, two PCs on the same trusted LAN. No separate .NET installation is required.
Close an older RoomMute version from the tray. Unpack the ZIP into a local folder on each PC, keep all package files together and open RoomMute.exe.
Select the same input as your voice app. Enter the other PC’s IPv4 address on each side; leave UDP port 48731 on both PCs. Allow RoomMute through the Windows firewall on your private network if prompted.
Adjust ducking and thresholds, keep automation active and enable Start with Windows. Apply changes and start the first session. Subsequent launches connect automatically; Start minimized keeps RoomMute in the tray.
From version 1.5.0, RoomMute checks for stable GitHub releases and shows release notes in the app. Download and verify the ZIP, then choose Start new version. Your saved settings are kept.
RoomMute changes the Windows input level of the selected microphone. Use the same microphone in your voice app and test the actual result; behavior depends on your device and driver.
RoomMute coordinates speaking and reduces microphone input. It is not an echo canceller or a speaker-recognition system. Microphone placement and sensible thresholds still matter.
RoomMute keeps trying the saved connection. If your selected microphone or startup is temporarily unavailable, retries gradually increase to 30 seconds. Stop cancels pending automatic attempts.
The same counter as Red Raven counts file requests through the download button. These are download requests, not unique people or confirmed completed installations.
Download RoomMute 1.5.0 and set it up on both PCs. The ZIP includes the Windows runtime and license notices.
